It’s easy to forget that working out isn’t just a physical exercise. Your mind and how you use it is just as important as your body. The brain is a powerful instrument that can be utilized to great effect when exercising, but it helps to know how to use your brain to help achieve your workout goals. We’ve got a few tips for you to think about.
Focus – there have been studies that prove if you concentrate on the muscles you are working with you will achieve more. This is a prime example of how the mind can help you focus. There’s a lot going on around you but that’s not of interest to you: only you and what you are doing should be in your thoughts. Begin this focus before you start and keep with it.
Aggression – weight training should be done with aggression. You want to get those hormones running when you’re in action to help boost your strength and burn those calories. Approach weight training with an aggressive stance and you’ll find it easier to get where you want to be. There’s no harm in making noise while working out as it can help with the emotional release.
Visualize – any sportsman or woman thinks carefully about how they are going to run a race, make a jump or play a match before they set out.
