5 Outdoor Gym Essentials
Due to all that has happened this year and the gyms being closed and then open and then closed again, many more people are working out from the comfort of their own home. Sometimes, though, you don’t want to just work out in your living room or conservatory and instead want to work out in the fresh air. If you have been interested in creating your own outdoor gym area, the good news is you don’t actually need a huge amount of space.
As long as you have enough space to perform a press-up or plank, there are various things you can do to burn fat, build muscle and work on your overall fitness, with some well-chosen pieces of equipment and accessories.
Kettlebells
We know what you’re probably thinking “kettlebells are just a fad”. Although it looks like that is the case from the strange design, kettlebells are actually one of the most versatile pieces of modern gym equipment you can get your hands on for a reasonable price. Whether you buy one or two, stick to one weight or get a few in different weights, you don’t need too much space to use them. As long as you can hold them out in front of you and swing them with your arms fully extended, you will find that kettlebells provide you with a stunning array of options targeting various parts of your body.
Jump Ropes
Bring out your inner Rocky and be prepared to shout almost unintelligibly “Adrienne!” by getting yourself a pair of jump ropes. These provide an amazing bit of cardio. However, they are not the best for working out at home if you do most indoors. Take them outside and get the benefit of improved endurance and a more sculpted and toned upper body and arms.
Durable Workout Mat
Even if you are not doing yoga, don’t just disregard a workout mat. They are great to use as a place to stand while you are working out, particularly if you are performing any move while lying down. The last thing you want is to get muddy or wet, and lose your concentration or feel irritated. Think carefully and do research into the best, because you will want one made from good quality materials that are robust and durable.
Slam Balls and Medicine Balls
It doesn’t matter whether you want to target your abs, conditioning, or working on stability, slam balls and medicine balls are a must. What’s more, if you are only kitting out your outdoor gym for you, they won’t take up too much space and don’t require a lot of room to use them effectively.
Suspension Training Equipment
Like the gear designed by TRX Go, suspension training equipment is a great way to make use of your surroundings and to make your body do all the hard work. These can help provide an intense workout thanks to the fact that your own body weight is used as leverage and you can hang them from just about anything, whether it’s a tree or something attached to the side of your house.
